The gathering brought together bell-ringers from all over Catalonia and other regions such as Huesca, Badajoz, and León, who offered demonstrations of manual bell-ringing. The event served to keep an ancient tradition alive and showcase the richness of this practice.
This year, the special ringing was dedicated to Ignasi Cortés, the local master bell-ringer who was key to ensuring the continuity of the tradition in the town. His work has been recognized as fundamental for the bell-ringing community.
“"Bell towers have always been at the service of the people, and we dignify this, while also supporting bell-ringers."
Furthermore, the Brotherhood of Bell-Ringers and Carillonists presented a bell specially cast for Casa Macià in Prats de Molló. This piece, named Vil·la Denise, will soon be handed over to the Friends of Casa Macià Association as part of the centenary of the events of 1926, symbolizing the recovery of historical memory and cultural heritage.
Bell-ringing, despite automation, continues to gain followers. The director of the Bell-Ringers School of Vall d'en Bas, highlighted the growing interest in this hobby, which has allowed bell towers throughout Catalonia to be revitalized. The school also carries out important research and documentation of old bell-ringers and an inventory of bells, discovering historical pieces of great artistic value, some from the medieval era.
