Residents of Os de Balaguer were left isolated last Thursday for nine hours following an electrical failure that left the Noguera municipality without power or mobile coverage.

The incident started at 2:39 PM and was not resolved until after midnight. Mayor Estefania Rufach expressed her anger, attributing the situation to the poor state of the facilities rather than just the wind intensity.

"We have very old lines in very poor condition. Electricity is an essential service and the bill arrives the same at the end of the month."

Meanwhile, Endesa sources claimed that wind gusts caused a phase of the overhead line to fall. The town council is demanding financial compensation and warning of possible protests over frequent micro-outages.
