The future of the Andalusian archaeological site Pla d’Almatà in Balaguer is taking shape with the ‘Renaixement’ project. A guided tour, organized by the Museu de la Noguera, brought together around thirty participants this Sunday to learn firsthand about the planned interventions for the conservation and dissemination of this significant heritage site.
The activity, part of the European Archaeology Days, allowed attendees to delve into the history and value of Pla d’Almatà, considered one of the most important Andalusian sites in Catalonia. During the tour, the project's objectives were detailed, aiming to enhance the site's profile and enrich the visitor experience.
The ‘Renaixement’ project, which began last October, includes the construction of a new visitor center, the restoration of the wall, and the renaturalization of the surrounding environment. These actions aim to make the urban layout of the ancient Andalusian city more visible, ensuring the preservation of the heritage and facilitating public access and understanding.
