At least six homes in the villages of Foradada and Montsonís, located in the Noguera region, were burglarized on Saturday night while residents were away celebrating Carnival.

The perpetrators took advantage of the local festivities in Artesa de Segre to break into the properties, stealing jewelry and cash. Local authorities believe the suspects had carefully studied the area beforehand to ensure the houses were unoccupied at the time of the crimes.

"We are very concerned; we feel helpless and insecure in the face of these events."

The Mossos d'Esquadra police force is currently investigating the scenes for forensic evidence. Meanwhile, the local council is planning to meet with police officials to discuss the installation of security cameras at the town's entrances to prevent future incidents.
