Around twenty energy communities from the Osona region gathered this Saturday for the Energy Tour, an itinerant event that visited Vic, Sant Pere de Torelló, Torelló, and Balenyà to share challenges and solutions in collective energy management.

The event, organized by the Osona Local Energy Agency (ALEO) of the Consell Comarcal and the cooperative OECOOP, with support from Ecoserveis, served to connect local initiatives working towards a more participatory and decentralized energy model. Participants learned about different organizational and governance models, as well as practical experiences in launching and managing community energy projects.
The visits provided firsthand knowledge of the trajectory, operating models, and challenges of four energy communities: Vicoop (Vic), COSPES (Sant Pere de Torelló), Pesca Energia (Torelló), and Balenyà Sostenible (Balenyà). These meetings facilitated knowledge exchange among communities in various stages of development.

"It is a festive and relaxed event born from the need for generational change. The energy transition will only be fair if it includes diversity, and we want to create spaces where we can discuss the issues that concern us."

Ginesta Mary Rodríguez · Technician of the Energy Transition Office (OTC) of the Osona Local Energy Agency (ALEO)
The event concluded in Balenyà with a meal and a session to share learnings, fostering dialogue and collaboration among the participating communities.
Anna Camp i Casanovas, director of the Catalan Institute of Energy (ICAEN), highlighted Osona as a benchmark in renewable energy, with 28 energy communities out of Catalonia's total of 118. She emphasized the importance of connecting with other European countries and consolidating energy communities for a more resilient electricity system.
Currently, between Osona and Lluçanès, there are 29 energy communities established as cooperatives, ensuring access to an energy community for 96% of the population. Albert Marcé Pujol, CEO of ALEO, stated that the current objective is the consolidation of these communities and the creation of synergies among their members.
