The work was carried out without the required authorization from the forestry administration, violating urban and forestry regulations. The felling affected approximately 8,000 m² of forest land, with the removal of topsoil from a significant portion.
In compliance with a mayoral decree, an immediate suspension of activities has been ordered, covering both the felling of live trees and earthmoving. The Espinelves Town Council has decreed a precautionary halt to the works, which has been formally communicated to the responsible company.
The company has been reported to the Department of Agriculture for the illegal felling of fir trees and the removal of forest cover without permission. A complaint has also been filed with the Urban Legality Protection Service for moving approximately 3,000 m³ of earth in preventive protection non-developable land without the corresponding urban planning license.
Rural Agents conduct inspections and monitor forestry activities to ensure compliance with current regulations and detect unauthorized actions. In 2025, they carried out 3,134 operations related to land clearing and tree felling, issuing 236 violation reports.
