Josep Anglada, councilor for Som Identitaris in the Vic City Council, considers himself a 'visionary' for his warnings about mass immigration two decades ago, and announces his intention to run in the 2027 municipal elections.

Anglada, who previously was a member of Fuerza Nueva and a promoter of Plataforma per Catalunya, states that his ideas on immigration, now defended by parties like Aliança Catalana and Vox, were already expressed by him 20 years ago. The politician from Vic currently leads Som Identitaris, a party with two representatives in the local council.

"I have always said the same thing: Moroccan immigration will never integrate; it is the big problem we have in our country."

The councilor insists that immigration of Moroccan origin does not integrate and that the demographic situation in Vic's classrooms has changed drastically in two decades. According to Anglada, the proportion of foreign-born students has significantly increased, and he foresees that in the near future there will be 'Muslim mayors throughout Catalonia' due to birth rates.
Despite acknowledging the need for immigration, Anglada defends the ability to decide 'who we want to come and who we don't'. He rejects the imposition of foreign customs and expresses his preference for names like Josep, Maria, or Rafel in Vic, instead of Mohamed. He distances himself from the label of Islamophobe, stating that he respects people, but not coexistence with certain cultures.
Looking ahead to the 2027 municipal elections, where Vic will add four more councilors after exceeding 50,000 inhabitants, Anglada hopes to gain 'great support'. He states that his ideology is based on 'common sense' and defines himself as conservative. Despite coalition proposals, including one from Aliança Catalana which he rejected, he will run independently. He does not rule out agreements with Junts, but he does with CUP, Comuns, or Vox.
The councilor, now retired, assures that he can dedicate himself fully to municipal politics and that he has 'moderated' his approach, which has allowed him to improve his relationship with the current governing team. He does not rule out becoming mayor in the future, especially if a coalition with Junts and Aliança Catalana were to allow him to manage the security department.
