The signing of a letter of intent between the council, represented by its mayor, Josep Casassas, and the foundation, by its president, Joan Casany, opens the door to studying a project that could be located on a municipal plot in the La Ronda urbanization.
This future facility aims to offer educational, social, training, residential, and employment integration services. As explained by Joan Casany, the initiative seeks to "analyze how this future facility could contribute to meeting the needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities and developmental challenges and their families, and to strengthen social and care services in the territory".
Mayor Josep Casassas highlighted the importance of collaboration between local administrations and social entities: "The proximity of local government to citizens and the experience of entities in supporting people enable knowledge, detection of needs, and joint work to build more inclusive municipalities".
The declaration, valid for two years, represents a first step in exploring the project, without involving financial commitments or the transfer of the plot. The signing ceremony was also attended by the Councilor for Urban Planning, Services, and Sports, Pere Miralpeix, the Councilor for Health, Quality of Life, and Well-being, Margarita Oriol, and the General Director of Sant Tomàs, Ricard Aceves.
