The Manlleu City Council, with the support of the Barcelona Provincial Council, is launching a new edition of the 'Escape Fum' program to help citizens quit smoking, offering free online training and support.

Smoking continues to be a significant public health challenge in Catalonia, with 21% of the population considering themselves smokers and approximately 10,000 annual deaths attributed to this addiction. In response, the "Escape Fum" project, driven by the Public Health department of the Manlleu City Council and supported by the Barcelona Provincial Council, returns with a new edition to offer support to those wishing to quit smoking.
Launched in 2020, the program aims to provide accessible resources to combat tobacco dependence. The new call for participants will begin on October 16th and will take place every Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. The service is completely free, and registration is now open.
The project's methodology is based on online training, designed to facilitate participation from individuals in various municipalities without the need for travel. Healthcare professionals, including a psychologist nurse and a nurse, coordinate the program, offering individual and group support to participants.
The course consists of five sessions, each lasting approximately one hour: one individual session and four group sessions. These virtual meetings include informative content, discussions, and practical tools to address the challenges of quitting smoking, allowing participants to share experiences, resolve doubts, and reinforce their motivation.
"Escape Fum" thus reaffirms its commitment to health prevention and promotion, providing a free and accessible resource for those seeking a smoke-free life.
