The ordinary municipal council meeting of Montesquiu was held last Tuesday, addressing several key points for the municipality's management. Following the approval of the previous minutes, the most significant item was the approval of the General Account for the 2025 fiscal year.
The 2025 fiscal year concluded with a surplus of €130,948 and a municipal reserve of €241,853, an increase of nearly €100,000 compared to the previous year. Furthermore, the positive evolution of municipal assets was highlighted, now standing at €6,298,033 (compared to €3,037,420 in 2019), and the reduction of municipal debt to €0, down from €99,166 in 2019. Regarding investments, approximately €778,000 were executed in 2025, a figure 14 times higher than the average investment between 2015-2019 (€55,000).
This economic proposal was approved with 6 votes in favor from the Som Montesquiu group and 2 votes against from Esquerra i Candidatura de Progrés.
In another item, the Health and Safety Plan for the construction of the new nursery school received approval, a crucial step before work begins in the coming weeks. The Governing Board will be delegated authority to approve work certifications and other safety plans. This motion also passed with 6 votes in favor from Som Montesquiu and 2 against from Esquerra i Candidatura de Progrés.
The mobility study, developed with support from the Barcelona Provincial Council, was also approved with 7 votes in favor and 1 abstention from Esquerra. Proposals include reorganizing traffic flow on Torelló, Passeig del Ter, and Travessera de l’Església streets, which will be subject to resident consultation. Improvements to parking and traffic around the school, as well as consolidating parking on Santiago Rusiñol street, are also proposed.
Unanimously, an agreement was approved with the Consorci de la Vall del Ges, Orís i Bisaura for the provision of environmental services. Likewise, the name change of the Escola el Rocal was unanimously approved; it will now be known solely by this name, having previously belonged to the rural educational zone Zer els Castells.
Finally, reports on governing board meetings, mayoral decrees, and budget execution status were presented, concluding the council session after questions from elected officials.
