Carla Mas, an athlete from Seva, and her dog Zilina revalidated the Spanish bikejoring championship title on December 7 in Ólvega (Soria), securing their third consecutive victory.

The victory in Ólvega (Soria) on December 7 marks the third consecutive title for the pair, an achievement Mas attributes to her constant preparation. Despite admitting she is “a bit pessimistic” and never expects to win, the Seva athlete arrived at the competition with great confidence and exhaustive training.

"I am very happy and proud; I feel it is a sign of a job well done."

Carla Mas, who was also a world champion the previous season, explains that bikejoring is a mushing discipline, similar to the image of a sled pulled by dogs, but using a bicycle and on dirt terrain. She stresses that although the cyclist must pedal and give their maximum effort, the absolute priority is the welfare of the animal.

"The dog is the priority and must enjoy it."

Her entry into the sport was accidental. In 2021, the veterinarian recommended switching from canicross to biking due to an injury to her previous dog. Although she initially hated cycling, the sport has now become a lifestyle she shares with her partner, Arnau Font, with whom she lives alongside four dogs.
