The event began with institutional welcomes from Joan Turró, president of CHV, and words from Marta Otero, rector of UVic-UCC. The keynote lecture, titled 'From Evidence to Impact: How to Research and Innovate in the Face of Complex Health, Territorial, and Sustainability Challenges,' was delivered by Sergio Ponsá, director of the BETA Technological Center at UVic-UCC.
Ponsá advocated for a systemic and multidisciplinary approach to address challenges such as health, the environment, and climate change. He emphasized that achieving real impact requires not only generating evidence or technology but also designing the conditions for their adoption, introducing the concept of 'Territorial Readiness'.
During the ceremony, the annual research awards from CHV and FHSC were presented. These awards recognize five scientific articles on suicide behavior prevention, severe soft tissue infections, fertility, antibiotic resistance, and stroke, as well as a communication on delirium in the intensive care unit.
The work of 4 professionals who obtained their doctorate during the 2025-2026 academic year was also acknowledged. Among the awarded publications are studies on the dispersion of multiresistant enterobacteria, the impact of arterial occlusion in stroke patients, treatment adherence in suicide prevention programs, severe bacterial soft tissue infections, and implications of in vitro gametogenesis.
In the best communication category, a paper on delirium in the intensive care unit received an award. Finally, the doctoral theses defended during the 2025-2026 academic year by Marta Casals, Ana Tejedor Navarro, Matilde Barneto, and David Ordoñez were mentioned.
