The Government of Catalonia will launch a regular drone service this summer to connect the Pallars Regional Hospital in Tremp with the Arnau de Vilanova Hospital in Lleida.

This pioneering healthcare logistics initiative aims to improve territorial equity and speed in the delivery of blood bags, biological samples, and pharmaceuticals. The flight path will reduce transport time from 75 minutes by road to just 40 minutes.
Beyond speed, the project stands out for its environmental and clinical impact. The use of unmanned aircraft will cut CO2 emissions by 98% and is expected to reduce sample degradation by up to 50% compared to conventional road transport.
The project is currently undergoing authorization with the State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA). It is led by the Department of the Presidency and the Department of Health, with technological support from T-Systems and the operator Pirineus Drone.
