“"We are an agricultural and livestock municipality, we are a Geopark territory, and we already suffer constant pressures. Do we have to assume almost double the average hectares? We will not stand idly by and will fight for a correction of the quota until the end."

The Isona i Conca Dellà Town Council has announced its intention to file allegations against the Territorial Sectoral Plan for Renewable Energies in Catalonia (PLATER), deeming the assigned hectares for clean energy generation within its municipal area 'disproportionate'.
The PLATER, a document outlining the roadmap for wind and photovoltaic energy implementation in Catalonia, has raised concerns within the local government of Isona i Conca Dellà due to its potential impact on the territory. According to preliminary results presented by the Generalitat, Pallars Jussà is expected to contribute 840 hectares for clean energy, representing 0.63% of its total surface area.
However, the internal distribution of these figures particularly penalizes the municipality of Isona i Conca Dellà, which would have to allocate 262 hectares for solar panels or wind turbines. This figure accounts for 1.9% of its municipal territory, contrasting with the Catalan average of 1.1%, placing it above the effort required from other areas of the country.
Mayor Jeannine Abella has defended local interests, referencing the future installation of the electrical substation in Figuerola d'Orcau and the threat of new very high voltage (MAT) lines. She also highlighted Pallars Jussà's historical role in energy sovereignty, noting that the region already generates 20% of the country's green energy, a stance shared by the mayor of La Pobla de Segur, Marc Baró, last December.
The Government of the Generalitat has indicated that the PLATER is a working document open to consensus. Town councils now have three months to submit allegations and propose modifications. Isona i Conca Dellà's objective is to achieve a downward revision of these quotas to protect agricultural land and the high landscape and geological value of the municipality, which believes it has already fulfilled its energy solidarity.
