The Town Hall of la Pobla de Segur and the Pallars Jussà County Council reaffirmed their commitment to the door-to-door waste collection system this February 2026.

Despite local pressure, Mayor Baró has ruled out a public consultation on the model change. He stated that the implementation follows a European Union directive and is more efficient than smart bins for towns like la Pobla de Segur.

"There is no possibility of a consultation; it is a directive that comes to us from Europe."

The rollout will occur in phases, including la Pobla de Segur, Pont de Claverol, Salàs de Pallars, and Talarn. County President Jordana noted the project has been in development since 2021.
Authorities compared the current tension to the closure of old landfills years ago, which also faced opposition but eventually led to the creation of new green spaces.
