The Counselor of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, argued at the Connectem el Pirineu Meeting held in Tremp for the need for new governance to reverse aging and depopulation in the mountains.

Òscar Ordeig, Counselor of Agriculture, participated in the Connectem el Pirineu Meeting, organized by the SEGRE Group in Tremp, where he stressed the importance of identifying and attracting allies for the region's development. He urged leveraging the N-260 improvement project to build a “territory narrative,” as the Pyrenees require a high-capacity road.

"In the Pyrenees, we have more allies than we think. We must identify and attract them."

Ordeig framed infrastructure improvement as an opportunity to create the “narrative of the mountain passes,” but insisted that the fundamental goal is to reverse aging and depopulation. He acknowledged that historically, “we have been wrong in the governance towards and from the Pyrenees.”
Before an audience that included dozens of mayors, the counselor called for the creation of a common governance space and a change in mentality both in Barcelona and in the Pyrenees. In this regard, he offered the “apologies of the Generalitat for all the years you have not been listened to.”
