The municipalities of la Pobla de Segur, Talarn, Salas de Pallars, and el Pont de Claverol officially started the door-to-door waste collection system in Pallars Jussa this Thursday, February 19.

The implementation has faced significant opposition. In la Pobla de Segur, residents left trash bags at former collection points as a form of protest. A local platform has filed a lawsuit and requested urgent precautionary measures to stop the new system, claiming insufficient public consultation.

"The goal is to do things right, with active support for citizens and without applying penalties in this initial stage."

Ramon Jordana · President of the Pallars Jussa County Council
The County Council defends the model as essential to meet European Union recycling targets of 60% by 2030. Meanwhile, protests are set to continue, with a major demonstration scheduled for Sunday, February 22.
