The Caminada de Carenes held its 16th edition last Saturday, April 11, bringing together 460 participants who enjoyed the landscapes of Pallars Jussà and Alta Ribagorça in one of the most prominent resistance events on the calendar.

This event, recognized as one of the most emblematic in the territory, connected the towns of El Pont de Suert and Tremp via a 52-kilometer route, featuring a considerable accumulated elevation gain. Participants were able to enjoy traditional paths that have been recovered and highlighted.
The event offered three routes adapted to different difficulty levels: the long route between El Pont de Suert and Tremp (52 km), a medium route from Adons to Tremp (28 km), and a shorter option from Gurp to Tremp (10 km).
The Caminada de Carenes is part of the Catalan Resistance Walking Circuit of the Federació d’Entitats Excursionistes de Catalunya (FEEC), solidifying its position as an unmissable event for hiking enthusiasts. Beyond the sporting aspect, the walk also fosters ties between the territories of El Pont de Suert and Tremp, highlighting their shared natural and cultural heritage.
In the men's category for the long distance, the best time was achieved by Jordi Soto Mascarilla, with 5 hours, 52 minutes, and 26 seconds. In the women's category, Gemma Alfonso Tort, from the Club Excursionista Esparreguera, completed the route in 7 hours, 51 minutes, and 1 second.
The organization expressed its gratitude for the essential work of the volunteers, whose involvement is fundamental for the annual realization of the walk. With over sixteen editions, the Caminada de Carenes remains a deeply rooted event in the region with great acceptance among participants.
