The operation, which started this week in January 2026, focuses on the Capdevila Square area. The Tremp council justified the measure because the underground model has become obsolete, causing recurring issues that hindered the proper functioning of the service.
This model has become obsolete and presented various problems, such as overflows, collection difficulties, and bad odors.
This removal is part of a broader plan that the City Council began a few years ago to progressively replace this system in various parts of the town. The main goal is to improve service efficiency and facilitate its use by local residents.
The underground containers will be replaced by a battery of surface containers. Following the work in Capdevila Square, only one final point remains pending, located on Aragó Street, which will be eliminated in a later phase. The council urges citizens to make proper use of the new collection services.
