The Baqueira Beret ski resort has filed a formal legal challenge in court regarding its stalled urban development project in Sorpe, located within the municipality of Alt Àneu.

The developers have submitted an administrative appeal against the Alt Pirineu Territorial Urbanism Commission. This follows a decision in October 2024 to reject the modification of the SAU-S01 partial plan.
The project has seen significant changes, scaling down from an initial proposal of 379 homes to the current 154 units. Despite the reduction, regional authorities claimed the promoters failed to meet all necessary legal requirements.

"The ruling could be due to Baqueira Beret's decision to take the modification directly to Urbanism instead of bringing it to the municipal plenary."

Josep Miquel Rossell · Mayor of Alt Àneu
The local government of Alt Àneu confirmed it will not participate in the legal proceedings. The case now enters a judicial phase that could further delay the expansion plans of the Aranese station.
