The Museum of Salt in Baix Pallars has expanded an initial single-meeting event into a three-part cycle throughout June, July, and October to capture the oral history of pastoralism and the role of women in the region.

Aiming to foster connections among the municipality's female herders and shepherds and to collect oral history, this cycle pays tribute to the women—young and old, newcomers and locals, active and retired—who work or have worked in this profession in Pallars Sobirà. The cycle is founded on a participatory process involving meetings and interviews coordinated by the Museum of Salt, covering locations such as Sarroca de Baén, Cabestany, Mentui, Bretui, Gerri de la Sal, Cortscastell, Peramea, Peracalç, and others willing to join.
The cycle comprises three main activities. The first, titled 'Péixer territoris' (Nourishing Territories), includes the inauguration of a temporary exhibition by artists Marco Ranieri and Martina Manyà on Sunday, June 14th, at 11 am at the Museum of Salt. This exhibition reflects on landscape changes and local botanical knowledge linked to livestock farming, resulting from a participatory process involving herders, geographers, botanists, and artists, coordinated by Federica Ravera.
The second activity, 'Ramaderes i pastores: paraula, terra i llegat' (Shepherds and Herders: Word, Land, and Legacy), will take place on July 3rd at Era d’Ortega (Peramea), from 6 pm to 8 pm. This intergenerational meeting, moderated by Vanessa Freixa, will discuss the significance of being a woman in this profession, generational changes in the land and knowledge transmission, the motivations driving new generations of herders, and the influence of contemporary society. The conclusions from the interviews and the meeting will be recorded in audiovisual format.
Finally, on October 23rd at the Museum of Salt, the documentary film 'Dones Muntanya' (Mountain Women) (2026), by Eduard Costa and Sònia Armengol, will be screened. This documentary portrays four women from Garrotxa, aged over ninety, who recount the transformations they have witnessed in their rural environment, from the shift from agriculture to industry, through war and post-war periods, to their connection with the land and the wisdom they have acquired.
