The Sierra Nevada resort was the stage, last April 4th, for Guiu Morano's latest major achievement. The young skier, originally from Esterri d'Àneu and a member of the Espot Esquí Club, has managed to be crowned Spanish SX Champion in the U14/16 category. At just 15 years old, Morano thus revalidates the national title he already secured last season at the Baqueira Beret slopes.
This victory marks the end of an exceptional sports season at the national level. Morano has demonstrated overwhelming dominance in the Copa d’Espanya Movistar SX circuit, winning all three scoring events held in Baqueira, Formigal, and Sierra Nevada. This consistency has established him as the undisputed champion of the national circuit.
His success is not limited to the national competition. At the regional level, the skier has also revalidated the Catalan SX Championship and won the Open Euskadi/Catalunya in this discipline.
Morano's career has its roots in Pallars Sobirà, where he trained between the Espot Esquí and Baqueira Beret resorts. Since childhood, he has participated in school snow programs organized by the Consell Esportiu del Pallars Sobirà, such as Esport Blanc Pallars Sobirà and Esport Blanc Escolar.
For the upcoming season, Morano's goals include consolidating his training, maintaining his presence on the national calendar, and beginning his participation in international European competitions. To cover expenses, he has the support of the Diputació de Lleida and awaits the resolution from the Federació Catalana d’Esports d’Hivern (FCEH).
The Town Council of Esterri d'Àneu has publicly expressed its pride in the formal recognition of the young resident's consistency and achievements.
