The incident took place at 2:06 PM between Coll de Bassiero and Estany Gelat. The victim's companion, who was uninjured, alerted emergency services and provided initial assistance. Bombers de la Generalitat reported that the rescue involved specialized mountain units.

A helicopter from Pompièrs d'Aran and the GRAE mountain rescue group, along with a medicalized helicopter from the SEM, responded to the scene. Once stabilized, the hiker was flown to the hospital for urgent treatment of his injuries.

This is the latest in a series of winter accidents in the region. On February 15, a skier was rescued in Mata d'Estaon, and on January 18, a fatal avalanche occurred at the Baqueira Beret ski resort following heavy snowfall.
