The Catalan Firefighters rescued a skier on Sunday, February 15th, after he was swept away by an avalanche in Vall de Cardós, located in the Pallars Sobirà region.

The emergency call was received at 12:29 PM from the Mata d'Estaon area, at an altitude of over 1,500 meters. Although the skier was not buried under the snow, he sustained leg injuries in a location that was difficult to access by land.
A rescue helicopter carrying GRAE mountain specialists and a SEM doctor was deployed to the scene. The injured man was successfully stabilized and evacuated to the village of Estaon for further medical attention.
