The Catalan Fire Department rescued a skier on Sunday afternoon after he was caught in an avalanche in the Estaon area of Vall de Cardós.

The emergency call was received at 12:29 PM from a location above 1,500 meters. The skier suffered leg injuries after being dragged by the snow. A rescue helicopter and GRAE mountain specialists were deployed to the site.
Despite the injuries, the victim recovered sufficiently to leave the area on his own and declined medical transport. Authorities emphasize that the avalanche risk remains at level 4 out of 5 in the Pallars and Aran regions.
