The Sort Public Library inaugurated this Thursday the exhibition The World of the Castellarnau, a cultural project that reviews the history of one of the most influential noble lineages in Catalonia.

The opening ceremony was attended by the director of the Pallars Sobirà Regional Archive, Anna Molí, and the Councilor for Culture of the Sort City Council, Pere Bàscones. The exhibition, which will remain open until April 18, is the result of collaboration between several local institutions and the Tarragona Provincial Historical Archive.
The Castellarnau family originated in the 11th century in Vall Ferrera. Although part of the lineage moved to Tarragona in the mid-18th century, the documentary collection preserves key pieces regarding the management of their heritage in the Pyrenean region. The display includes 39 parchments and an exceptional collection of 788 stereoscopic glass plate images taken by Carles Castellarnau i de Miró.
In addition to information panels and audiovisual material, visitors can browse a selection of specialized books provided by the Library Service of the Generalitat de Catalunya. This traveling initiative allows for the rediscovery of the historical link between Pallars Sobirà and the Tarragona region.
