David Díaz Mas, Coordinator of Mountain Policies for the PSC in Alt Pirineu, published an opinion column on December 15, 2025 highlighting the renovation of the road between Vall d'Àssua and Rialp as a model of institutional collaboration.

Díaz begins his article by pointing out that, in a time of political weariness, the focus must be placed on the “silent and concrete” work that transforms people's lives. The improvement of the road connecting Vall d’Àssua with Rialp, passing through Caregue and Escàs, is seen as a symbol of relief, safety, and dignity for the residents.

"It is not just a public work. It is a gesture of respect for those of us who live in these mountain towns and regions. A way of telling us that we also exist and are taken into account."

The opinion piece emphasizes the difficulty faced by local councils with limited budgets in maintaining kilometers of municipal roads. Therefore, Díaz highlights the importance of joint work between the Diputació de Lleida, the municipalities of Rialp and Sort, the Department of Territory of the Generalitat de Catalunya, and the Consell Comarcal.
The socialist coordinator concludes that this action demonstrates that politics, in its best version, consists of “caring for people” and making their lives easier. He asserts that the future of the Pyrenees is built with “small, brave, and necessary” decisions like this infrastructure improvement.
