The Bellvís and els Arcs Town Council has implemented preventive safety measures after a sycamore tree fell on Passeig d'Urgell, caused by a fungal infection.

The fall of a sycamore tree at the end of Passeig d’Urgell has prompted the Bellvís and els Arcs Town Council to take preventive measures to ensure public safety. Agricultural technical engineer Josep Cónsola visited the site and analyzed the causes, identifying an infection by the fungus Inonotus hispidus, which weakens structural wood.
During the inspection, other sycamore trees along Passeig d’Urgell and Plaça de Catalunya were also examined to assess their health status. Definitive conclusions on the causes and extent of the damage will be detailed in a technical report.
As a precautionary measure, the upper section of Passeig d’Urgell will remain closed, and parking in the adjacent areas will be prohibited until safety is guaranteed.
Once the final technical report is available and necessary actions are determined, the Town Council will convene an informational meeting open to the public to explain the situation, the technicians' conclusions, and the measures to be adopted. The governing team thanks residents for their collaboration and understanding, emphasizing that the priority is public safety, technical rigor, and transparency.
