The State Highways Agency in Catalonia has initiated proceedings to close one of the direct accesses to Fondarella from the A-2 highway, in Pla d'Urgell, citing road safety reasons.

This proposed closure affects the first exit of the A-2, at kilometer point 484, leading towards the Repsol gas station, its parking area, and the industrial estate of Fondarella. This access is particularly busy on Sundays, coinciding with the weekly market in the town, attracting a high volume of drivers and users.
In response to this situation, the Fondarella Town Council has announced its intention to file objections, an action that will be joined by several affected businesses. The primary concern lies in the potential repercussions on local mobility and the economic activity of the area, especially during peak days.

The State Highways Agency justifies the measure due to non-compliance with current regulations and the negative impact it believes it generates on road safety and the proper operation of the road.

The official document from the State Highways Agency indicates that an alternative route exists through the municipal road system, via the roundabout connecting with the LV-3321, which links to the roads of Fondarella and Palau d'Anglesola. The resolution, provisionally approved, opens a public information period of 20 working days for submitting objections.
Concurrently, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the town council have a two-month period to issue a report within this administrative procedure. It is important to note that this phase does not imply the definitive closure of the access, but rather forms part of an evaluation and consultation process.
