The Mollerussa City Council has awarded the contract to Tallers Vidal Amill, SLU for the new bike lane works on Canal Avenue, budgeted at 138,357 euros, scheduled to start this February.

The new route will modify the current path to place the double-direction bike lane next to the landscaped area, specifically in the section between the Carrer d’Arbeca roundabout and the junction with the Miralcamp road.

The intervention is part of the Mollerussa Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan and has a subsidy from the Catalan Traffic Service.

The Mayor of Mollerussa, Marc Solsona, confirmed that the works, with an execution period of three months, will begin this February. This action will temporarily affect the distribution of the exhibition area of the Fira de Sant Josep.
The project involves implementing a bike lane at road level, separated from vehicular traffic by physical elements and distinct paving. This change will require transforming the current diagonal parking into parallel parking to improve visibility and safety.
Furthermore, the intervention includes the elimination of architectural barriers, raising the pedestrian crossing and the cyclist crossing at the two intersections with the roundabouts, creating a shared continuous platform that will calm traffic. Councilor Garrofé added that this project will be integrated into the comprehensive future remodeling planned for Canal Avenue.
