The work, which will connect the Arbeca street roundabout with the Miralcamp road junction, will be executed by the company Tallers Vidal Amill, SLU. The total cost amounts to 138,357 euros, and the planned execution period is three months. Mayor Marc Solsona and Councilor Josep Maria Garrofé confirmed that the work is scheduled to begin during February.
The new two-way bike lane will be located next to the landscaped strip and will involve transforming the current parking, switching from battery to line parking, in order to gain visibility and safety. Furthermore, the project, framed within the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, is subsidized by the Servei Català de Trànsit.
“"This will be the model that will be extended throughout the canal section and in future areas of Mollerussa."
Technically, the bike lane will be level with the roadway, featuring differentiated pavement and physical separators from vehicular traffic. The project also includes the elimination of architectural barriers and the elevation of pedestrian and cyclist crossings at the two roundabouts to create a continuous platform that improves accessibility and calms traffic.
The construction will also affect the next edition of the Fira de Sant Josep, requiring adjustments to the exhibition layout. The mayor noted that the complete renewal of the avenue's pavement will be addressed in a subsequent intervention, linked to a broader plan for street improvements across the municipality.
