A group of clients of the Ilertravel travel agency were stranded in Lapland (Finland) in early January after the company failed to manage their return flights, forcing them to seek financial aid from relatives.

Abraham España, one of the affected clients, explained that his group of nine people had to pay 7,800 euros just for the return flight, in addition to extra accommodation and meal expenses. This resident of Cadiz had booked a trip to Lapland, departing on December 31.

"Our family had to lend us money after Ilertravel left us stranded in Finland. I repeat: we had to ask for money to return home for a trip we had already paid for."

The agency's manager, a resident of Lleida, is currently being investigated by the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan Police) for alleged fraud. The affected parties, which included children, consider that they suffered abandonment abroad and plan to file a collective and individual lawsuit.
This situation adds to other cases, such as six people from Madrid who paid 15,000 euros for a trip to Japan and Thailand last August, of which only a portion has been refunded. Furthermore, seven couples from Torregrossa reported the manager on December 27 for an alleged 21,000 euro fraud.
