The Consell Comarcal del Pla d'Urgell received 251,985 euros from the Agència de Residus de Catalunya to modernize the fixed and mobile waste facilities in the region during 2026.

The Consell Comarcal del Pla d'Urgell secured a subsidy of 251,985 euros from the Agència de Residus de Catalunya, marking the second-highest amount granted to a regional council in the Lleida demarcation. These funds are allocated to improve the fixed waste facilities in Castellnou de Seana and Mollerussa, as well as the itinerant mobile facility.
The main goal of the interventions is to optimize the management of collected materials, facilitate waste contribution by users, and increase facility security through the installation of video surveillance systems. The renewal of signage, labeling, and the acquisition of new equipment are also planned.
Regarding the fixed facilities in Castellnou de Seana and Mollerussa, actions will focus on energy efficiency. Current lighting will be replaced by more efficient systems, and photovoltaic panels will be installed for self-consumption, moving towards more sustainable operations.
The project also includes improving pavements and painting the facilities. Furthermore, a vegetal fraction shredder will be acquired, allowing for more efficient management of this type of waste. All actions will be 100% financed by the grant and are scheduled for execution throughout 2026.
