Around twenty tractor drivers participated in the gathering, touring the roads of Pla de Martís and being welcomed with a popular aperitif in a festive atmosphere. The mayor of Esponellà, David Juan, highlighted that the day serves to recognise the work of farmers, who care for the land and keep the landscape alive.
This year's opening speech, by Carme Rosset, focused on the importance of women in the rural world, emphasising their often under-recognised contribution to agricultural and livestock farms. David Juan stressed the need to make this work visible and acknowledge it.
One of the symbolic moments was the handover of the image of Sant Galderic, which passes from Esponellà to Serinyà, where it will remain until the next celebration. This annual handover strengthens the ties between the four municipalities and the idea of Pla de Martís as a shared space uniting landscape, history, and farming that transcends administrative boundaries.
The celebration provided an opportunity to reconnect, exchange experiences, and remember the importance of farming for economic activity, landscape, and territorial balance. David Juan concluded that farming must be defended by listening to its needs and enabling new generations to continue working the land.
