The young man from Banyoles, born in 1995, has experienced an intense end to the season with constant celebrations. Congost describes the experience as "amazing," acknowledging the difficulty and uniqueness of achieving these two goals with different clubs. Besalú, with whom he had already secured a previous promotion from Fourth Division, reaches Segona Catalana, while Porqueres debuts in Primera Catalana, an unprecedented feat for the club.
This achievement represents the reward for a "24/7" dedication to football. Congost devotes "Monday to Monday" to his profession, a calling that causes him "anxiety and anguish" but which he is willing to accept. "Football is rewarding," he states, hoping that the good results will compensate for the difficult days and that his career, both as a player and coach, will continue to be gratifying.
With four years of coaching experience, Congost has already secured three promotions (one with Serinyà and two with Besalú). This upward trajectory, which he values "immensely," especially in a sport where "you tend to lose more than you win," is facilitated by the clubs' support. Furthermore, at his current age of 31, he can balance his passion for coaching with his playing career, avoiding having to "hang up his boots" prematurely.
Congost highlights the difference in responsibility between the two roles. As a player for Porqueres, his involvement is more collective, whereas as Besalú's coach, he feels "very responsible" for the playing style, squad building, and training sessions. His "obsession with growing and improving" leads him to dedicate extra hours, even at night, to devise strategies, a commitment he believes players "return" with their own involvement.
Looking ahead to the next season, Nil Congost will continue his dual role. He has renewed with both clubs, balancing his role as a player in Primera Catalana with that of a coach in Segona Catalana. Porqueres will allow him to manage his commitments, prioritizing his coaching career, which he considers his long-term "profession." His experience as a player in Segona Catalana will provide him with valuable knowledge for his coaching duties.
