The 81st edition of the Vuelta Ciclista a España confirmed today in Monaco that its fifth stage, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, will link Falset and Roquetes across a 171-kilometer route.

The presentation of the Vuelta Ciclista a España 2026, held this afternoon in Monaco, revealed that the fifth stage will take place on Wednesday, August 26, between Falset (start) and Roquetes (finish). This 171-kilometer stage features a flat profile, making it ideal for sprinters.
This stage is groundbreaking, as it will be the first time in the history of the race that a stage is contested entirely on roads within the province of Tarragona, connecting the Camp de Tarragona area with the Terres de l’Ebre. The route includes passage through Mora d’Ebre, El Perelló, l’Ampolla, and Deltebre, highlighting the scenic attractions of the Ebro Delta and Els Ports.
The only significant climbing difficulty will be the Alt de Paüls, standing at 381 meters, considered the main climb of the day. The finish in Roquetes settles a historical debt with the Terres de l’Ebre, which the Vuelta had not visited since 1999. Nevertheless, Tortosa remains one of the cities with the most stage finishes in the Spanish tour, totaling 11.
Representatives from the Diputació de Tarragona attended the presentation in Monaco, emphasizing the crucial role of this administration in negotiating and financing the stage, which is expected to serve as a significant tourist attraction. The Vuelta 2026 will run from August 22 to September 13, starting in Monaco and concluding in Granada, following a highly Mediterranean route across four countries.
