The Catalan Water Agency opened a tender this February for an 84,300-euro project to improve habitats and connectivity of the Siurana River within the Priorat region.

The Catalan Water Agency (ACA) has launched the bidding process for the design of a project to restore fluvial connectivity in the Siurana River. The work focuses on the stretch between the municipalities of El Molar and El Masroig, in the Priorat region, with a planned investment of 84,300 euros. Interested companies can submit bids until February 16.

"The goal is to make the released ecological flow more efficient and, especially, to make the river more adaptable to drought episodes."

The project, part of the Natura 2000 Network, includes several technical interventions to support local wildlife. Key measures include the adaptation of fords and the design of a fish passage on the right bank of the Assut de Coco. It also covers the control of invasive species and the creation of shelters for otters.
Beyond biological improvements, the study will analyze the river's morphodynamics. ACA aims to determine if removing certain structures would allow the river to naturally reach its equilibrium profile, while monitoring the impact of recent droughts in the Priorat area.
