The Generalitat Firefighters carried out the rescue of a climber who suffered a fall in Cornudella de Montsant, in Priorat, and was transferred to Reus Hospital in a less serious condition.

The incident occurred on April 2, 2026, when the 112 emergency service received the alert at 10:39 AM. The woman, who had fallen and was at the base of the climbing route, was immobilized and extracted by the Firefighters using a hoisting system.
Once rescued, the Medical Emergency System (SEM) attended to the victim and transferred her to the Sant Joan University Hospital of Reus. Her condition was classified as less serious.
For the operation, a joint team comprising members of the Firefighters and SEM was activated, along with an ambulance. This intervention coincides with the Easter period, a time when the Firefighters emphasize the importance of caution in outdoor activities.

The Firefighters urge caution precisely coinciding with these Easter days.

During the previous Easter period, the Firefighters carried out a total of 77 rescues in natural environments. Of these, almost half, specifically 34, were concentrated during the four public holiday days of the long weekend.
