The heatwave affecting Catalonia has reached exceptional values this Tuesday, with temperatures exceeding 43ºC in several parts of the Ribera d'Ebre and Priorat regions.

Weather stations in Priorat experienced a day of intense heat. In Torroja del Priorat, the mercury reached 43.2ºC, a figure representing the highest temperature recorded at this location in the last two decades.
Other parts of the region also suffered extreme values. The Siurana reservoir reached 42ºC, while Margalef hit 41.7ºC. These figures add to those recorded in Ribera d'Ebre, where the Riba-roja reservoir marked 43.3ºC, surpassing all records in its thirty-year historical series.
This Tuesday has consolidated as the third day of a heatwave that has been increasing in intensity. After a Sunday where thermometers brushed 40ºC and a Monday that approached 42ºC, the current day has left records that rank among the highest observed in a month of July during this century.
