This year's edition of the Falset Wine Fair, which includes the Exhibition and Market of DOQ Priorat and DO Montsant wines, recorded a total of 56,000 wine tastings. This figure, slightly lower than the previous year, is mainly attributed to the unstable weather conditions and intermittent rain that affected the weekend.
Beyond the tastings, the various events organized both in Falset and other towns in the region were very well received by the public. It is estimated that around 30,000 people participated in some of the activities scheduled during the fair.
“"Ultimately, it's an event that year after year draws very similar numbers of people. Many are wine lovers, come from all over Catalonia, and return. Falset is a must-visit on the calendar."
The head of the organization emphasized the fair's importance as a driving force for the territory. He highlighted that the event is not only a commercial fair but also a great celebration of wine and the region, acting as a gateway for wine tourism, attracting both local and international visitors.
Furthermore, the profile of attendees was positively assessed, described as a public with significant interest and knowledge of wine. A notable presence of young people, around their thirties, eager to learn more about the territory, wine varieties, and wineries, and who consume wine regularly throughout the year, was also observed. This trend was reflected in the success of the organized tastings, which sold out in most cases, both in Falset and in other municipalities of Priorat.
The fair continues this Monday with a professional day dedicated to the sector, held in the apse of Falset Castle. This meeting, organized jointly with Priorat Enoturisme, has registered about 200 participants, including distributors, restaurateurs, sommeliers, and other professionals. The event, in a walk-around showroom format, offers free tastings and networking spaces, with the aim of generating new business opportunities and strengthening ties within the wine sector of DO Montsant and DOQ Priorat.
