Over 150 residents of Priorat gathered on Thursday at the Falset Castle to learn details and show their opposition to the Very High Voltage Line (MAT) and the PLATER plan.

The meeting, organized by the Consell Comarcal del Priorat and the Associació Prioritat, took place in the apse of the Castell de Falset and aimed to resolve doubts, especially for those affected by the route of the MAT Escatrón–els Aubals–la Secuita.
The MAT project, promoted by Red Eléctrica, plans to replace the current 26-meter towers with new structures nearly fifty meters high, doubling the voltage and generating a significant landscape and socioeconomic impact on the region.

This infrastructure does not benefit the territory and contradicts the decentralized energy model promoted by the Climate Change Law.

Regarding the Territorial Sector Plan for the Implementation of Renewable Energies in Catalonia (PLATER), regional officials demanded the incorporation of the consensus-based Comarcal Renewable Plan and that wind power implementation be adjusted to local needs, avoiding disproportionate measures. Objections against the MAT are being prepared and will be shared with the public.
