The incident occurred on Saturday, January 31, when the flow of the Montsant River, in the municipality of Margalef, increased significantly. This surge caused the collapse of a wooden bridge that prevented the usual crossing.
The alert was received at 6:40 PM via the 112 emergency number, immediately activating the rescue operation in the Priorat area.
The action taken by the emergency teams successfully resolved the situation without any personal injuries occurring.
Once on site, the teams located the swept-away bridge downstream. After repositioning it, they proceeded to help the two individuals cross the Montsant River in a completely safe manner.
