The town of Ascó will be the setting for the 16th edition of Lleida Canta, which, under the motto 'Lleida Canta for Peace,' will bring together nearly 1,500 people and 39 choirs on Sunday, April 26.

The event, organized by the Coral Maristes Montserrat de Lleida, the Ascó Town Council, and the Orfeó d'Ascó, is supported by the Catalan Federation of Choral Entities and various regional institutions. This musical gathering will bring together singers and audiences from 19 Catalan counties, aiming to promote peace and coexistence through music.
The day coincides with the 90th anniversary of the start of the Civil War and will take place in emblematic locations linked to the Battle of the Ebro. The figure of Pau Casals, on the 150th anniversary of his birth, will be a symbolic reference, highlighting his musical legacy and his commitment to human rights.
The program will include choral performances and a guided tour of historical sites such as the Poble Vell de Corbera d'Ebre, the Memorial de les Camposines, and other points in the municipality of Ascó. Participants, divided into groups, will visit these places while performing pieces from their repertoire.
The day will begin in the morning with an institutional welcome and will culminate with a communal song in Joan XXIII Park in Ascó. Afterward, a popular lunch and various cultural activities will be offered to all attendees.
