Former Environment Ministers Ramon Espadaler and Salvador Milà testified this Tuesday at the National Court, stating that the Tivissa landfill in Ribera d'Ebre met all legal standards.

During the trial involving the Pujol Ferrusola family, both former officials denied receiving any pressure to approve the project. Espadaler explained that his role was limited to signing the final authorization after receiving positive technical reports from various agencies.

"It would have been out of place not to grant the authorization."

Ramon Espadaler · Former Environment Minister
Milà, who served during the subsequent administration, noted that the facility was already built when he took office. He emphasized that the Waste Agency of Catalonia was legally obligated to register the site as all procedures were correctly followed.
