The storm, with rainfall between 24 and 27 mm and hail up to 8 cm, struck with exceptional intensity. It caused numerous incidents and damage in various parts of the municipality. Notable damages include broken windows in vehicles and homes, damage to skylights in industrial buildings and facilities like the bus station's pergola and Aqua sports facilities, damaged photovoltaic panels, water ingress, and localized flooding. Significant damage to vegetation, plants, gardens, and trees was also reported.
The municipal police had to close vehicle traffic on ravines such as Faneca. Displaced manhole covers and the presence of stones and earth from construction sites, moved by runoff, were signposted. Despite the storm's severity and the extensive material damage, no personal injuries were reported, a fact the City Council particularly values.
This morning, municipal officials and technical services met to conduct an initial assessment, coordinate necessary actions, and begin quantifying the damage to public roads and municipal facilities. Inspection and evaluation work will continue in the coming hours.
The hailstorm coincided with the Mora d'Ebre's Festa Major (local festival), forcing the organization to suspend or reschedule some planned afternoon events, especially children's activities and those scheduled on the river. The City Council is working to adapt the festive program.
The City Council thanks all the individuals, municipal services, and emergency personnel who acted during and after the storm, as well as the citizens' collaboration and understanding in the face of an unusually intense meteorological event.
