The Móra d'Ebre Town Council is calling on the Catalan Government to approve the technical viability of a new site for the local heliport to restore emergency medical services.

Mayor Rubén Biarnés announced that the municipality has already secured the necessary budget to purchase land near the N-420 highway and the Regional Hospital. The project aims to provide a 24-hour operational base for the SEM emergency helicopter, which was recently relocated to Reus.

"We have the land, we have the funding, and we have the political will; now the Government must take the necessary step."

Local officials and MP Irene Negre expressed concerns over the loss of rapid response capabilities in the Terres de l'Ebre region. They have formally requested the immediate return of the medical helicopter and a firm commitment from regional departments to expedite the final authorization.
