The town of Móra la Nova, in the Ribera d'Ebre region, is emerging as a potential site for a future Artificial Intelligence gigafactory, with an estimated investment of 5 billion euros.

Twelve of the fourteen municipalities in Ribera d'Ebre are located on the banks of the Ebro River, Spain's most voluminous waterway. Historically, this water resource attracted the Flix Electrochemistry plant and later nuclear power stations. Now, the river is expected to be key in cooling a potential Artificial Intelligence gigafactory that could be established in Móra la Nova.
The town, twinned with Móra d'Ebre and connected by a bridge across the river, could live up to its 'Nova' (New) name if it hosts this cutting-edge technology. The complex plans to operate with 100,000 latest-generation processors once a public-private investment estimated at 5 billion euros is completed.
Móra la Nova, which was a significant railway hub during the steam train era, now appears destined to become a nerve center for new neural networks. This technological development would be possible thanks to the Ebro's water resources, which would provide the necessary cooling.
