The Móra la Nova City Council has decided to block the use of public facilities for any activities or talks regarding the potential AI gigafactory project in the Ribera d'Ebre region.

Mayor Jesús Álvarez stated that since no definitive project exists yet, it is impossible to evaluate its ecological or social impact. However, groups such as Ecologists in Action and the CGT union have labeled the move as censorship, claiming the council only promotes positive views of the industry.

"Currently, there is no defined AI project that allows for any kind of assessment regarding possible ecological or social impacts."

The controversial talk, which was originally planned for the local library, will now take place in the neighboring town of Miravet on March 6. Local authorities also noted that the requested room requires a rental fee that was not addressed by the organizers.
