The Government, through the managing body of the Nuclear Transition Funds, held its 22nd meeting in Móra d'Ebre to accelerate industrial land development and finalize aid bases for the primary sector and self-employed.

"If we want to diversify economic activity in the Penta 1 and 2 area and mitigate the job losses that the closure of the plants may generate, the activation and planning of new industrial land is one way, and we have been discussing different ways to act."

Jaume Baró · Secretary of Business and Competitiveness
The Secretary of Business and Competitiveness, Jaume Baró, who chaired the meeting held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, emphasized the need to “be able to place industries” to retain people in the territory and activate the projects promoted by the subsidies.
The management entity for the nuclear tax resources is also finalizing the aid bases for the primary sector and self-employed workers. The Department of Agriculture has presented a proposal that local councils and regional bodies can supplement with contributions over one week.
Furthermore, the reopening of the six aid lines for companies is scheduled for February, a model maintained after 52.5 million euros were distributed last year to 183 companies in the affected areas. The Department of Business plans to continue with the same model this year.
During the meeting in Móra d'Ebre, two unique projects were presented by the entities l'Aube and Fites, focusing on agroforestry land management and increasing the capacity of cooperatives in micro-towns to combat depopulation.
