The town of Campdevànol will host a tribute this Saturday, March 14, to honor Josep Mas i Tió, a lieutenant colonel of the Spanish Maquis who saved hundreds during World War II.

A new information board will be unveiled to trace the historical route through the Ripollès region used by Mas i Tió. As a mountain guide and resistance fighter, he helped RAF pilots and Jewish refugees cross the border into France via Oceja, escaping the Nazi regime.

"The documentary serves to review a poorly verified part of Mas i Tió's death. It has always been said that he died accidentally, but this has always been denied by the family."

The event also highlights an upcoming documentary by the Amical d'Antics Guerrillers de Catalunya. The film investigates the mysterious circumstances of his death in 1946, challenging the official accidental version and exploring the political context of the era.
